Privacy Policy

This app does not collect your data. Not "collects it but promises to be careful" — it has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party code, and does not send anything anywhere. This page explains what that means in practice.

The short version

Everything you do in this app stays on your device. There is no server. We could not see your study progress if we wanted to, because it never leaves your phone.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no sign-up, no login, no email capture, and no way to identify you. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics.

What the app stores on your device

To keep track of your studying, the app saves a single file in its own private storage area on your device. That file contains:

This file is stored in the app's sandbox, which is a private area that other apps cannot read. It is never transmitted. If your device backs up to iCloud or to a computer, this file is included in that backup the same way any app's data is — that backup is between you and Apple, and we have no access to it.

You can erase all of it at any time from Settings inside the app, under "Reset all progress." Deleting the app also deletes the file permanently.

Network use

The app does not require an internet connection and does not make network requests. All study content ships inside the app itself.

Where the app shows a web address — for example, pointing you to ServSafe to register for the real exam — tapping it opens your browser. What happens after that is governed by the privacy policy of the site you visited, not this one.

Crash reports

If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" in your device's Privacy & Security settings, Apple may send us anonymised crash reports and performance data. This is a feature of iOS, not of this app, and it is off unless you switch it on. Those reports contain diagnostic information about the crash, not your study data. You can change this at any time in the Settings app under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.

Children

The app is intended for people preparing for a food-safety certification, which generally means people old enough to work in food service. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Third parties

There are none. The app contains no advertising networks, no analytics software development kits, no social login, and no tracking libraries of any kind. Nothing about you is sold, shared, or disclosed, because nothing about you is collected.

Purchases

Any purchase made in the app is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

Your rights

Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or erase. The data on your device is already entirely yours: view it in the app, reset it in Settings, or delete the app to remove it.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app collects anything — for example, if optional account sync is added — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app's release notes. The effective date at the top will change.

Before you publish this

Read it once against what the app actually does at the moment you submit — if you have added anything with a network connection, this page is no longer accurate, and an inaccurate privacy policy is a worse problem than a thin one. If you ever want a postal address here as well, add it under the publisher line; an email alone is acceptable for an app that collects nothing.

This app is independent study material. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Restaurant Association. ServSafe is their registered trademark.

This page was drafted to describe an app that collects nothing. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for review by a lawyer if your circumstances are more complicated than they appear.
